Dr. Cassandra Miller- Washington, Executive Director of CTAE/ CEO

In 1999, Dr. Cassandra Miller-Washington began her K-12 educational journey in the Bibb County School District. Because of her tenacity and diligence, she has held several positions. Her initial role as Technology Director for two Edison Schools within the district allowed her to serve teachers and parents for four years. In 2002 moving into the classroom in the role of Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Marketing Instructor and added the role of CTAE Instructional Coach in 2007. In 2009, she was promoted to CTAE Supervisor and in 2012 to Executive Director of CTAE/CEO of Hutchings College and Career Academy. During her career as Technology Director for Edison Schools, Dr. Cassandra Miller- Washington was named Technology Start-Up Director of the Year.

Additionally, she was named Teacher of the Year for Northeast Health Science Magnet High School and Georgia TAPP Ambassador by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission during her teaching career. In 2014 she was named the Georgia Career Technical Agricultural Director of the Year, and in 2016 she was named the National Career Technical Agricultural Director of the Year by ACTE. Dr. Cassandra Miller- Washington was the Technology Director for Edison Schools and was named Technology Start-Up Director of the Year during her first year of employment. Additionally, during her teaching career, she was named Teacher of the Year for Northeast Health Science Magnet High School, Georgia TAPP Ambassador by Georgia Professional Standards Commission, and a Bibb County Teacher and Administrator Leadership Academy graduate. Also, she received numerous Golden Apple Awards from Central High School Honor Graduates. The Golden Apple Award is given to teachers who have made significant contributions to the achievement of those students. In 2014 she was named the Georgia Career Technical Agriculture Director of the Year; in 2015, she was named the National Administrator of the Year by the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).

Additionally, she was instrumental in obtaining the grant for the 37th Career Academy, known as William S. Hutchings College and Career Academy. During his tenure, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle appointed Cassandra to serve on the Turnaround Council for Georgia. Recently, the Macon-Bibb County Mayor appointed her to serve on the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority board.

Dr. Cassandra Miller-Washington received her Bachelor of Science from Tuskegee University and her MBA from Mercer University before accepting the Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Capella University. Her uncompromising view is that all students can learn. If students are given a positive learning atmosphere that welcomes exploration and enhances student growth, both academically and socially, students will look forward to attending school and will LEARN! She is married to Duke Washington and has three wonderful children (Ishmael, Chanelle, and Denzel Washington); they are active members at Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James O. Miller and First Lady Betty Miller.
